Tomb Raider and Spider-Man

Its obvious how much I enjoy reading, although something I don’t often mention on this blog is how much I also enjoy gaming. This is a good year for gaming for me, new World of Warcraft game (Which I am yet to play, as waiting to play with a friend). I have just got and complete the new Tomb Raider game, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and currently playing the brand new Spider Man exclusively on PS4 as well as Assasins Creed Odyssey, not to mention the few games I also have pre-ordered, Spyro and Pokemon- Let’s go.

Now I know it seems strange me writing a blog post about gaming on my book blog, but the reason why is because some of these games are either based on books/ comics and/or have books to support the game.

When we bought the new Spiderman game I also bought the new book which came with it, this book is about the famous Peter Parker just before the beginning of this game. I really like the idea of writing a book prequal to support a game, this game is also based on a LOT of comics by Marvel and I’m pretty sure is one of their first ever superhero’s.

I have also bought the book for Shadow of Tomb Raider, I have actually got this game completed now but I’m getting excited to read the book related to the game.

I would love to hear about other passionate readers and gamers and what are their favourite books, games or even books and games connected to each other are. If you feel like it, leave a comment!

Katie Abey

I got an amazing present for my birthday!! I LIKE BIG BOOKS AND I CONNOT LIE!

This bag is designed by an incredible young artist/illustrator called Katie Abey, she has a store near to where I live but also has a great Etsy page. All of her items are unique and adorable, not to mention very colourful!!! The best way to describe this incredible work is happiness, motivation and sarcasm!

If you would like to check her work out. Or get a bag like this yourself check out her webpage – I mean, what more could a book lover want? It’s just so true too!!

Okay so I totally got to meet one of my FAVOURITE authors a little while back. James Bowen, the writer of the true story about himself and his cat called A STREET CAT NAMES BOB.

This book is fantastic and is really inspiring. I got this book after a friend was reading it so I went out and bought it knowing I love a good story about animals and cats although this isn’t just about a cat its about a guy James Bowen and his fight against getting of the streets and becoming clean of drugs in order to help his new family member a handsome ginger tom named Bob.

This book really brought a new viewpoint to people living not he streets around the uk (which is where I live), knowing that some people really do try and do their best and knowing that there is hope. Since reading this book I really do think twice when coming to someone homeless on the streets, helping with food or helping a big issue seller.

I got to meet James and Bob at a book signing at my local WHSMITH shop where I live, just after the release of the film (which is also AMAZING – GO WATCH NOW!)
He was a genuine nice guy who really works hard at making a good life for as many people as possible! Whilst I was waiting in cue to meet him a young girl in front asked him to sign a calendar from the film, and he was very happy to do this, but he also turned to her birthday and signed there with a birthday message – I thought this was so kind, he was probably tired from all the scribbling in books all evening anyway that he took the time to write a birthday message as well.

I took a few books, I wanted my original copy signed but I also asked if I could have a book signed for my aunt who is a massive fan of the books also and I also asked if I could get one for my sister who hasn’t yet read the books but she loved the film, just like me and he did them all and having a chat and some photographs with me as well!

I suggest EVERYONE go now buy this book and read it! It really is an inspiring book with an amazing story and strength!!!!!!

And here’s me with photos taken on the day! 😀

The Fledgling Handbook

The Fledgling Handbook

Okay so after reading the incredible House of night series I decided to read the Fledgling handbook…

This was really a nice bit of fun after reading all the books, the handbook is talked about a lot throughout the books and I was always wondering what kind of this it would look like and what would be in it… when reading it you get so submersed within it you begin to believe you are a fledgling and that all these stories are real. Its a really nice accompaniment with the series and I suggest anyone who reads the series get a read of this too…. Although I know some people wished it to be a lot bigger and had more in it, I feel nice was nice as a quick glimpse and introduction of becoming a fledgling.

Book 12 – Redeemed

Book 12 – Redeemed

The final book of the House of night series!!! wow!!!!!!

So in this book Neferet is taking over Tulsa and when proved that Zoey didn’t murder the guys as she first thought learnt an important lesson about herself and the use of magic. The entire Nerd Herd along with many more including Humans are finally in the biggest fight ever against Neferet as she begins to take over, although they trap her for a while, until Zoey learnt how to control magic and how to use it.

A real example of working together to defeat true evil, this book was amazing as it showed us people souls who we thought never would have one, Kalona’s death and being accepted back at his goddess side, and Auox soul being released after he died imprisoning Neferet forever along with Zoey and her closest friends.

The end was just as I hoped with Zoey and her friends becoming fully grown Vampyres and accepting the change… going onto Zoey having her own very house of night….

This book series was incredible, just not what I was expecting… I was struggling to write about them all because I just wanted to read them all the time. I would suggest anyone to read these books (although as it says on the book, not suitable for young readers) I noticed that these books are placed in the young adult fiction category although I believe and know that this book can also be enjoyed by older adults too!

Give it a try!!!!!!! I’ve really enjoyed these books and would recommend this any day!!!
